1. Overview
Akera does not allow third-party websites to set cookies in your browser. Remote content in email is retrieved by our servers, not loaded directly from those sites.
We use first-party cookies and browser local storage to authenticate you, keep you signed in, and operate the Service. We do not use them for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking. Because these uses are limited to operating the Service, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
2. What we use
We use three categories of browser storage:
- Essential: required to keep you signed in and operate the Service. Disabling these will break sign-in.
- Preference: remembers UI choices such as theme (improves experience but not required for core mail features).
- Functional: supports specific in-product features (such as locally stored composer templates).
3. Storage inventory
The following list is exhaustive at the time of writing. We will keep it up to date as the product changes.
- akera-mail-theme: Preference ·
localStorage. Remember the colour theme you picked so the app does not flash on load. Retention: Until you clear browser data or change it. - akera-mail-lights-out-for-dark: Preference ·
localStorage. Whether to apply the lights-out variant of the dark theme. Retention: Until you clear browser data or change it. - akera-beta-banner-dismissed: Preference ·
localStorage. Hides the public beta notice after you dismiss it. Retention: Until you clear browser data. - Authentication tokens: Essential ·
localStorage. Keeps you signed in securely. Retention: Until you sign out or the session expires. - akera_user_accounts: Essential ·
localStorage. Lets you switch between multiple Akera accounts. Retention: Until you remove an account or clear browser data. - akera_email_templates: Functional ·
localStorage. Stores the composer templates you save locally. Retention: Until you delete them or clear browser data. - signup_pending / selected_plan: Essential ·
sessionStorage. Holds the plan you picked while you complete signup and checkout. Retention: Cleared after signup completes (and after 30 minutes regardless).
4. Your choices
- You can clear all Akera storage from your browser settings at any time. You will be signed out and your preferences will reset.
- To show the beta notice again, clear the key
akera-beta-banner-dismissedin localStorage.
Because we do not allow third-party cookies and we do not use cookies or local storage for advertising or cross-site tracking, there is no separate opt-out to send elsewhere. Clearing Akera storage in your browser is sufficient.
5. Changes
We will update this page whenever we add or remove a storage key, and we will bump the “Last updated” date at the top of the page accordingly.
