Subprocessors

This page lists third-party service providers that may process Akera user data on our behalf. Only providers required to operate the Service are included.

1. Overview

A “sub-processor” is a third party that processes personal data on behalf of Akera in order to provide a specific part of the Service. We disclose the full current list below, along with what each sub-processor does and where processing takes place.

2. Infrastructure

  • Amazon Web Services, Inc. (Cognito): User authentication, password hashing, MFA, session management. Processing location: United States (us-west-1). Privacy policy.
  • Amazon Web Services, Inc. (SES): Inbound and outbound mail delivery, anti-spam / anti-virus scanning, DKIM / SPF / DMARC enforcement. Processing location: United States (us-west-1). Privacy policy.
  • Amazon Web Services, Inc. (S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway): Object storage for mail content, attachments, signatures, snapshots; metadata storage; serverless application logic; API hosting. Processing location: United States (us-west-1). Privacy policy.
  • Netlify, Inc.: Static-asset hosting and TLS termination for the Akera web client. Processing location: United States (global edge). Privacy policy.

3. Payments

  • Stripe, Inc.: Payment processing, subscription billing, customer portal, tax calculation. Processing location: United States (global). Privacy policy.

4. Email AI and Akera Intelligence

Email AI features (writing assistant, thread overview and chat, calendar suggestions, phishing checks) and Akera Intelligence are on by default. You can disable them in Settings → AI. Model inference runs on infrastructure operated by Akera; that is not a third-party sub-processor. Akera Intelligence chat history is stored with our cloud infrastructure provider (see section 1). The following provider processes AI requests in transit:

  • Cloudflare, Inc.: Access control and encrypted routing of Email AI and Akera Intelligence requests to Akera-operated inference infrastructure. Processing location: United States (global edge). Privacy policy.

5. Optional / opt-in

We only share data with the following providers when you explicitly enable a related feature.

  • Telegram FZ-LLC: Delivery of in-product Telegram notifications for users who explicitly opt in. Processing location: Global. Privacy policy.
  • Google LLC (Firebase Cloud Messaging): Delivery of optional new-mail push notifications on Android devices when the user enables notifications. Processing location: United States (global). Privacy policy.

6. Notification of updates

We will update this page when we add, remove, or change a sub-processor, and we will bump the “Last updated” date accordingly. Business customers may request advance notification of material changes by emailing legal@akera.tech.
